Testraightphe.biz pop-up removal
Testraightphe.biz is one of many websites pushing a social engineering scam aiming to trick users into agreeing to be spammed with ads on their desktop. When you get redirected to the site, a pop-up alert will appear saying “Testraightphe.biz wants to show notifications”, and if you press “Allow”, you will be spammed with ads, even on your desktop.
Browsers offer a feature that can allow websites to show users notifications, if permission is granted. Users have to specifically press “Allow” when prompted for the sites to be able to do that. The notifications would appear on the desktop, on the right side of the screen. If all you’ve dealt with is ads, it may not seem like the feature has legitimate features but it does. For example, allowing a news website to show you notifications would let you keep up to date on important news stories without having to regularly visit the site. You could just click on the notification, and it would take you to the news story directly.
But unsurprisingly, the feature is often used by questionable sites like Testraightphe.biz. There are no legitimate reasons to allow sites like Testraightphe.biz to show you notifications. Allowing it to show you notifications means you will constantly be shown advertisements. The thing about Testraightphe.biz shown ads is that they’re not merely annoying, they could actually be dangerous. The ads could purposely be made to appear like legitimate system notifications, and since they appear in a similar place, it wouldn’t be difficult to confuse the two. So you could end up downloading something malicious without even knowing.
If you have clicked “Allow” when prompted to allow Testraightphe.biz to show notifications, you can easily revoke that permission, provided you know how. If you are not familiar with the process, we will explain in the last section of the report. You will also be able to block these notification prompts from appearing in the future. In addition, you need to determine why you’re being redirected to Testraightphe.biz in the first place because if the issue is adware, you will need to get rid of it to remove Testraightphe.biz redirects permanently.
Adware installation methods
In many cases, users do not even realize that adware could be present on their computers. It installs using software bundling, a rather sneaky installation method that allows infections like adware and browser hijackers to come attached to free programs as extra offers. These extra offers, while optional, are permitted to install alongside the freeware automatically, unless they’re manually deselected. But because the offers are hidden initially, users are often unable to deselect them. But if you pay attention when installing free programs, especially ones you download from non-official websites, you should be able to prevent these unwanted installations.
When installing free programs, make sure you choose Advanced (Custom) settings. Those settings will make all added offers visible, and you will be able to deselect all of them. Uncheck the boxes of any offers that are made visible in Advanced, and that will prevent the unwanted installations.
If your computer is adware-free, then the redirects to sites like Testraightphe.biz may be caused by sites you visit. There are loads of high-risk sites that have their share of questionable ads, and clicking on anything when on those sites could trigger a redirect. Having adblocker installed on the computer would be very helpful because it would either immediately close the redirect window, or prevent it from popping up altogether.
Testraightphe.biz removal
To successfully delete Testraightphe.biz redirects, it’s important to determine whether they’re caused by an infection like adware. We recommend scanning your computer with anti-virus software like WiperSoft. The program would determine whether the issue is an actual infection, and if nothing is detected then the redirects are caused by the sites you visit. Installing adblocker can prevent these redirects, or at least close the windows immediately if they appear.
Lastly, if Testraightphe.biz has permission to show you notifications, you need to revoke that permission. Here’s how you can do that:
- For Mozilla Firefox: Open menu (the three bars top-right corner) -> Options -> Privacy & Security. Scroll down to Permissions, press on Settings next to Notifications, and remove Testraightphe.biz. You can permanently turn off these notification requests by checking the “Block new requests asking to allow notifications” box in the same Notifications settings.
- For Google Chrome: Open menu (the three dots top-right corner) -> Settings -> Privacy and security -> Site Settings. Click on Notifications under Permissions, and remove Testraightphe.biz. You can stop these notification requests permanently by toggling off “Sites can ask to send notifications”.
