Remove unhesiss.shop notifications

unhesiss.shop is a scam website that tries to trick users into allowing ads on the desktop. The site does not have anything on it but it prompts browsers to show the “unhesiss.shop wants to show notifications” alert. If users click “Allow”, they will authorize the site to show ads on the desktop. These ads could be dangerous to interact with and lead to dangerous websites. Thus, if you have given it permission, do not click on them. Fortunately, it’s not difficult to revoke the permission via your browser’s settings.

Upon being redirected to the site, you’ll see a black screen and a message that asks you to click “Allow” to continue. There won’t be any additional content on the page. You’ll see a browser notification that says “unhesiss.shop wants to show notifications”. If you click “Allow”, the site will have permission to show you ads on your desktop. The biggest issue with this is that these ads will appear like system notifications, some may even look like legitimate security alerts. This is very problematic because these ads could confuse users and trick them into interacting with malicious or scam content. For example, users may be shown fake virus alerts that invite them to download fake anti-malware programs.

The “show notifications” feature can be useful in some cases, but it’s often exploited by dubious websites like unhesiss.shop. On the other hand, it can be quite helpful for getting content from trusted sites. For instance, allowing notifications from a news website can keep you updated with the most important news without needing to visit the site. If you decide the notifications are no longer useful, you can easily revoke this permission through your browser settings.

If you encounter random redirects, it might be a sign of adware on your system, so we suggest running a scan with the WiperSoft anti-virus program. If you’ve granted permission for unhesiss.shop to show notifications, it’s recommended to withdraw that permission sooner rather than later. Detailed instructions for doing so can be found at the end of this report.

What triggers redirects to sites like unhesiss.shop?

There are mainly two reasons why you might find yourself redirected to websites like unhesiss.shop. An adware infection on your device may be the trigger. But more commonly, redirects are triggered by ad-heavy sites users visit without an adblocker program. Websites that host adult or pirated content are especially notorious for spamming visitors with excessive ads, leading to unwanted redirects regardless of what you click on. Using a good adblocker can effectively minimize these intrusive ads and redirects.

If adware is the culprit behind these redirects, you may also notice an uptick in regular advertisements. Adware infections are more irritating than anything and should not harm your computer directly. Users often unwittingly install adware and browser hijackers via a method known as software bundling. This occurs when additional offers, such as adware, are bundled with popular free programs. These added offers are set to install automatically unless users specifically opt out. However, users are often unable to do that because the offers are hidden within rarely-used settings, making them hard to find, which is why software bundling is problematic.

To avoid unwanted installations, be careful when installing free programs. You may notice that the installation window suggests using Default settings, but opting for this will allow all bundled offers to install automatically. Instead, select Advanced (Custom) settings to be able to review all offers and uncheck any that you do not want. Legitimate programs do not typically use the bundling method, so it’s recommended to reject all offers, even if they appear useful at first. It’s also worth mentioning that programs that rely on bundling for installation are frequently flagged as potential threats by anti-virus programs.
