Remove targetads-hub.top notifications

targetads-hub.top is a deceptive website that aims to trick users into allowing ads on the desktop. To do that, it misuses a legitimate browser feature that allows sites to request permission to show notifications. Because targetads-hub.top is a deceptive website, its displayed notifications will be ads if you click “Allow” on the “targetads-hub.top wants to show notifications” alert. These ads will appear on your screen and may be disguised to look like system notifications in order to trick you into interacting with them. These ads could expose you to potentially dangerous content, such as scams or malware.

targetads-hub.top doesn’t have any content on it. The only thing it displays is a loading bar and a message saying you need to click “Allow” to continue. By that, it’s referring to the browser alert saying “targetads-hub.top wants to show notifications” that pops up when you get redirected to the site. Users often get redirected to sites like targetads-hub.top when trying to stream copyrighted content on illegal free streaming sites. Thus, they may think that by clicking “Allow”, they’ll be able to continue watching whatever they were trying to watch. However, instead, they will start getting ads on the desktop if they click “Allow”. This is problematic for several reasons. Not only are these desktop ads annoying, but they are also purposely made to look like system notifications to trick users into interacting with them.

The most common ad/notification shown by sites like targetads-hub.top is a fake virus alert. These fake alerts may initially look like they’re shown by the local anti-virus program. If users interact with them, they may be redirected to sites promoting highly questionable programs or concealing malware. If you have given targetads-hub.top permission to show notifications for whatever reason, do not interact with them, and revoke the permission as soon as possible. If you need assistance with that, we have provided instructions at the end of the report.

Because it’s possible for the redirects to be triggered by an adware infection, it’s a good idea to scan your computer with the WiperSoft anti-virus program.

Why are you triggered to sites like targetads-hub.top?

Redirects to websites like targetads-hub.top notifications generally happen when users browse ad-heavy sites without an adblocker. Such websites often bombard visitors with advertisement content, leading to numerous pop-ups and unwanted redirects, especially on sites with pirated or adult content. Fortunately, installing a trustworthy adblocker program can significantly reduce or completely block both ads and redirects.

If adware is causing the redirects, you’ll likely notice them happening often. You should also notice an increase in regular advertisements. Although adware is typically classified as a minor threat, the sheer volume of ads can become quite annoying. Adware, browser hijackers, and similar threats are usually installed through a technique known as software bundling. This method allows unwanted programs to be added to popular free applications as extra offers, installing automatically unless users specifically opt out. Although users can deselect these extra offers, they are usually concealed, leading to many programs using this method being flagged as potential threats by anti-virus programs.

To avoid unwanted installations, you simply need to pay attention when installing free programs. During the setup process, users will have to choose either Default or Advanced settings. The Default settings, which are recommended by the installation window, automatically install all bundled offers without explicit consent. Advanced settings display each offer clearly, allowing users to deselect any unwanted ones. It’s a good idea to uncheck all offers—regardless of how beneficial they might seem at first—to keep your computer free from junk.
