Remove Rebyfielde.work pop-ups

Rebyfielde.work is a highly questionable domain that pushes a social engineering scam. When you visit the website, a pop-up will appear saying “Rebyfielde.work wants to show notifications”. If you press “Allow”, you would be agreeing to see advertisements on even when you exit the site.

Sites like Rebyfielde.work take advantage of a legitimate browser feature that allows websites to send notifications, which can appear even on the desktop. This feature is used by many legitimate websites such as news sites in order to keep users updated with important news stories without them needing to visit the site. However, as are most browser features, this is misused by scammers and cyber criminals in order to expose users to as many ads as possible.

When you get redirected to Rebyfielde.work, you will see a pop-up asking you to allow the site to send you notifications. The site itself will also prompt you to do that, saying that you need to confirm that you are not a robot by clicking the “Allow” button or that you need to do that to proceed to the site. In any case, if you click “Allow”, you will start getting a lot of advertisements, not only when browsing but also on your desktop. The thing about these ads is that they’re not only annoying to deal with but also potentially harmful. The ads could resemble legitimate system notifications, and you could be tricked into downloading something malicious, which could seriously harm your computer.

The reason you end up on sites like Rebyfielde.work is because you get redirected, either by the questionable sites you visit or by adware. If the latter is the case, you would need to get rid of the adware to remove Rebyfielde.work redirects. And if you have agreed to see notifications, you will need to revoke that permission as soon as possible. We will explain how you can do that in the last section of the report.

An adware infection can lead to redirects to Rebyfielde.work

If you end up on sites like Rebyfielde.work, you either have adware on your computer or you were browsing a high-risk website that caused the redirect when you clicked on something. If you were browsing a high-risk site without adblocker, it’s very likely that that’s how you got redirected. Among those sites are usually those hosting pornography, pirated content, or free streaming sites. As long as you don’t visit those sites, or at least have adblocker enabled, you should be able to avoid being redirected.

However, if you are being redirected constantly, even when browsing previously safe websites, you might be dealing with adware. If it is adware, you will need to get rid of it to stop the redirects. If you’re confused about how adware could have installed on your computer, it likely came attached to a free program you installed. Adding additional offers like adware and browser hijackers to programs is called software bundling. The offers are set to install alongside automatically, despite being optional. If you want to prevent unwanted additional installations when installing freeware, always opt for Advanced (Custom) settings when given the option during installation. Those settings will make all added offers visible, and you will be able to deselect them. We strongly recommend you always deselect whatever has been added because it’s a rather sneaky installation method, and programs that use it should not be allowed to install.

Rebyfielde.work will ask to show you notifications

When you get redirected to Rebyfielde.work, whether by a site you were browsing or by adware, you will see an alert pop-up. It will say that Rebyfielde.work wants to show notifications. The site itself will also show messages saying you need to click “Allow”. If you do, you will essentially be agreeing to see advertisements, even on your desktop.

These desktop ads may be particularly dangerous because they resemble legitimate system notifications. You could be shown an ad claiming you need to install an important update, and if you fall for this, you could end up downloading something malicious. You could also be tricked into providing your personal information or falling for some kind of scam. Just as a precaution, if you have permitted as site to show you notifications, avoid clicking on any alerts until you revoke that permission.
