Remove razorteco.top ads

razorteco.top is a deceptive website that aims to trick users into allowing desktop ads. To do this, it misuses a legitimate browser feature, which is why you’ll get a browser alert saying “razorteco.top wants to show notifications”. If you click “Allow”, the site will be authorized to show notifications on your desktop. Unfortunately, razorteco.top’s notifications will be ads. What’s more, those ads could expose you to potentially dangerous content, including scams and malware. It’s not difficult to revoke a site’s permission to show notifications if you have given it, and you can find instructions at the end of the report.

razorteco.top is essentially a fake site, featuring nothing but a fake video player that stops after a few seconds. To supposedly keep watching the video, users are prompted to click “Allow” on the browser alert saying “razorteco.top wants to show notifications”. Users may find themselves redirected to this site while trying to stream copyrighted content from illegal sites, mistakenly believing that clicking “Allow” would allow them to watch whatever they were trying to. In reality, clicking “Allow” leads to intrusive desktop ads that can be quite problematic, as they mimic genuine system notifications and trick users into interacting with them. Interacting with these alerts could result in you being redirected to unreliable websites that promote suspicious software or even contain malware.

If you’ve accidentally granted razorteco.top permission to send notifications, it’s important to revoke it and avoid interacting with any notifications in the meantime. Instructions for navigating your browser’s settings to revoke this permission can be found at the end of this report. Additionally, since these redirects may indicate an adware infection, it’s recommended to scan your computer using the WiperSoft anti-virus program.

Why are you redirected to sites like razorteco.top?

When you visit ad-heavy websites without an adblocker program, random redirects and ads are nothing unusual. Sites that have adult or pirated content tend to be especially notorious for spamming ads. Fortunately, any decent adblocker can effectively handle both ads and redirects.

If you start noticing an increase in ads and redirects, especially on sites that should be safe, you might be dealing with an adware infection. While adware is generally viewed as a minor threat, it can quickly become quite annoying due to the sheer volume of ads it generates. Adware and browser hijackers usually install through a method known as software bundling. This method allows unwanted programs to install alongside popular free software as they’re added as extra offers. The offers are set to install automatically unless users manually deselect them. Though users can opt out of these extra offers, they’re usually hidden, making this a deceptive installation method. Programs that use it are often flagged as potential threats by anti-virus programs.

To avoid unwanted junk on your computer, be attentive when installing free programs. During installation, users are typically given a choice between Default or Advanced settings. Default settings, which the installation window recommends, will automatically install all bundled offers without your consent. In contrast, Advanced settings show all offers, allowing you to uncheck any that you don’t want to install. It’s a good idea to uncheck all offers—regardless of how useful they may seem—to keep your computer clutter-free.
