Remove obsnetwork.pro pop-up ads

obsnetwork.pro is a deceptive website that tries to trick users into allowing desktop ads. It does this by misusing a legitimate browser feature that allows sites to show notifications on users’ desktops. This is why you’ll get a browser alert saying “obsnetwork.pro wants to show notifications” when you get redirected to the site. If you give this site permission, you will authorize the site to show ads on your desktop.

A browser alert saying “obsnetwork.pro wants to show notifications” will pop up as soon as you enter the site. If you allow this site to send you push notifications, you’ll start seeing advertisements directly on your desktop. Given the dubious nature of obsnetwork.pro, the ads you’ll see are likely to be even worse. It’s also worth mentioning that these ads may resemble legitimate notification pop-ups, making it easy to mistake them for legitimate alerts. Such ads could prompt you to download questionable or potentially harmful software, or take part in some scam. Fortunately, you can easily revoke this permission through your browser’s settings even if you have given it. If you’re unsure how to do this, instructions are provided at the end of the report.

To check your computer for an adware infection, scan it with WiperSoft. If adware is the culprit, removing it will solve the issue. Alternatively, the redirects may be triggered by certain websites you visit, in which case installing an adblocker is necessary.

Redirects can be triggered by adware

There are two main reasons you might be redirected to questionable sites. The first and most common reason is visiting high-risk, ad-heavy websites. These sites, often featuring adult or pirated content, frequently trigger pop-ups or redirects no matter what you click on. If you find yourself redirected, install an adblocker program to block ads/redirects.

The second reason for redirects, especially if they occur on safe websites, could be the presence of adware on your computer. These types of infections, including adware, browser hijackers, and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), are typically installed through a method known as software bundling. This means they are bundled with free programs as additional offers that automatically install without requiring your explicit permission.

Although these additional offers are optional, they need to be manually deselected to prevent their installations. The offers are hidden, so many users simply don’t notice them. To avoid installing unwanted programs, choose Advanced (Custom) settings instead of Default. While Default settings are suggested by the installation window, they hide the offers, allowing them to install. By selecting Advanced settings, you can review and opt out of any offers you don’t want. Even if some of these offers appear useful, it’s recommended to deselect them to keep your system free of junk programs.

How to remove obsnetwork.pro notifications

If you’ve granted permission for the site to display notifications and it’s now flooding your desktop with ads, simply revoke the permission. If you’re unsure of how to do it, follow the instructions provided below. In addition to removing obsnetwork.pro, make sure to check all other sites with notification permissions and remove any that you don’t want.

  • For Mozilla Firefox: Open menu (the three bars top-right corner) -> Options -> Privacy & Security. Scroll down to Permissions, press on Settings next to Notifications, and remove obsnetwork.pro and any other questionable website. You can permanently turn off these notification requests by checking the “Block new requests asking to allow notifications” box in the same Notifications settings.
  • For Google Chrome: Open menu (the three dots top-right corner) -> Settings -> Privacy and security -> Site Settings. Click on Notifications under Permissions, and remove obsnetwork.pro and any other questionable website. You can stop these notification requests permanently by toggling off “Sites can ask to send notifications”.
  • For Microsoft Edge: Open menu (the three dots top-right corner) -> Settings -> Cookies and site permissions -> Notifications. Review which sites have permission and remove obsnetwork.pro and any other questionable website. You can permanently turn off these notification requests by toggling off “Ask before sending”.

We recommend running a scan of your computer with the anti-virus software WiperSoft to check for adware. If adware is not the issue, install an adblocker program. The redirects are likely triggered by the ad-heavy websites you visit. An adblocker program will either prevent the redirects entirely or close the pop-up windows as they appear.
