Remove jirte.com notifications

jirte.com is a deceptive website that misuses a legitimate browser feature to spam users with ads. When you get redirected to the site, you will immediately get a browser alert saying “jirte.com wants to show notifications”, and if you click “Allow”, the site will be authorized to show advertisements on your desktop. Those ads can be disguised as legitimate system alerts in order to trick users into interacting with them. These ads could expose users to potentially malicious content, including malware and scams. Fortunately, even if users give the site permission to show notifications, it’s not difficult to revoke it.

When you get redirected to the site, you will see a video player start playing and suddenly stop, and a message saying your video is ready and that you need to press “Play”. Your browser will also show an alert saying “jirte.com wants to show notifications”. It’s not a good idea to interact with anything on the site. If you click “Allow,” the website will begin flooding your desktop with ads. These ads can mimic genuine system notifications, potentially confusing users. For example, jirte.com might display misleading virus alerts that can seem quite believable. These alerts might promote dubious programs or even lead to malware infections.

We should note that “show notifications” is a legitimate feature. You can opt to receive notifications from safe sites, such as trusted news websites if you want to see their content more conveniently. If you need to, you can easily revoke this permission through your browser settings.

Although it is rare, frequent redirects to random websites could be a sign of adware infection. Therefore, we suggest scanning your computer with an antivirus program like WiperSoft. If you have allowed the site to send notifications, make sure to revoke that permission. If you need help with this, you can find detailed instructions at the end of this report.

What triggers redirects to sites like jirte.com?

There are two main triggers for redirects to sites like jirte.com. In rarer cases, these redirects can be attributed to adware infections. More frequently, they occur when users visit ad-heavy websites without an adblocker program. Websites with adult or pirated content are considered to be very ad-heavy as they bombard users with never-ending ads. Fortunately, a good adblocker program can effectively prevent both redirects and intrusive advertisements.

If adware is causing the redirects, there should also be more signs pointing to it being present. For example, you should also notice an increased number of ads and pop-ups in addition to the redirects. While adware infections are generally minor infections that don’t directly damage the computer, they can be quite annoying. These types of infections, along with browser hijackers and similar threats, are commonly installed unintentionally by users through a method called software bundling. This technique allows unwanted programs to be added to popular free programs as extra offers, which are set to install without users’ explicit consent. Although these offers are optional, they can be easily missed as they are usually hidden in settings users rarely check. This makes software bundling a controversial installation method.

To avoid unwanted installations, you need to pay close attention when installing free programs. The installation window will recommend Default settings, but selecting these settings will automatically authorize all added offers to be installed. To avoid unnecessary installations, choose Advanced (Custom) settings instead. This will display all offers, enabling you to deselect those you don’t want to install. A reliable program will not use this bundling method, so it’s recommended to uncheck all offers—even if they seem appealing at first. Additionally, programs that use software bundling to install are often flagged as potential infections by anti-virus programs.

How to stop jirte.com notifications?

We highly suggest using the WiperSoft anti-virus program to check your computer for any adware infections. It’s considerably easier to remove adware with an anti-virus program than to do it manually. Also, if you haven’t yet, you should install an adblocker program.
