hotbxumume.today is a generic scam website whose sole purpose is to trick users into allowing desktop ads. The site misuses a legitimate browser feature that allows sites to show notifications on users’ desktops if permission is given. Because hotbxumume.today has no content on it and is questionable at best, its notifications will be ads. It’s worth mentioning that those ads could expose you to potentially malicious content, including malware and scams. Fortunately, it’s not difficult to revoke a site’s permission to show notifications.

 

 

Browsers offer a feature that permits websites to send notifications straight to users’ desktops if permission is granted. For example, a news website may notify users about important events, enabling them to stay informed without having to visit the site repeatedly. Users can click on these notifications to access the content. They also have the option to revoke this permission whenever they choose, allowing them to stop receiving notifications they no longer wish to see.

However, not all sites should have this permission. Enabling notifications from sites like hotbxumume.today often leads to ads on the desktop, so it’s important to be selective about which sites are granted permission. hotbxumume.today does not have any content on it, which makes it questionable at best. You can stop these notification requests permanently by toggling off “Sites can ask to send notifications”.
• For Microsoft Edge: Open menu (the three dots top-right corner) -> Settings -> Cookies and site permissions -> Notifications. Review which sites have permission and remove hotbxumume.today and any other questionable website. You can permanently turn off these notification requests by toggling off “Ask before sending”.
