Remove gwrldtpnws3.xyz pop-up ads

gwrldtpnws3.xyz is a deceptive website that misuses a legitimate browser feature to show ads on users’ desktops. When you get redirected to it, you will immediately get a browser alert saying “gwrldtpnws3.xyz wants to show notifications”. If you click “Allow”, the site will be authorized to show notifications on your desktop. However, because gwrldtpnws3.xyz is a questionable website, its notifications will be ads. It’s also worth mentioning that those ads could expose you to potentially dangerous content, including malware and ads.

gwrldtpnws3.xyz is quite generic and has nothing on it. The only thing you’ll see is a video player that begins to load but then abruptly stops. This is followed by a browser alert saying “gwrldtpnws3.xyz wants to show notifications”, and the site prompts you to click “Allow” in order to continue watching the video. Users attempting to watch copyrighted content on illegal platforms may be redirected to such sites. However, clicking “Allow” on this alert won’t play the video; instead, it gives permission for the site to display ads. These ads will appear as notifications on the right side of your screen, even after closing the gwrldtpnws3.xyz site. Some notifications may mimic system alerts, aiming to deceive users into interacting with them, which could lead users to unsafe websites that harbor malware or scams. If you’ve granted this site permission to send notifications, it’s best not to engage with them, as doing so might expose you to potentially dangerous content. You can revoke notification permissions through your browser settings, and detailed instructions can be found at the end of this report.

Why are you redirected to sites like gwrldtpnws3.xyz

Redirects to random websites like gwrldtpnws3.xyz typically happen either because of an adware infection or because users visit high-risk sites without an adblocker, with the latter being more common. Many questionable websites expose users to problematic ads, including redirects, particularly those containing pirated or adult content. Fortunately, you can easily avoid these redirects by using any decent adblocker program.

Adware infections can also cause these redirects. Adware is a relatively minor infection that aims to expose you to ads. These infections often come bundled with popular free programs in what’s known as software bundling, where they are added as optional offers. These offers are optional but they are set to install alongside the program automatically. Users need to manually uncheck these offers to prevent their installations. However, the offers are hidden in settings that users rarely check, making software bundling quite a controversial installation method. Additionally, many anti-virus programs flag programs that use the bundling method as potential threats.

To prevent the installation of unwanted programs, you simply need to pay attention when installing free programs. When prompted, always choose Advanced (Custom) settings instead of Default, as the latter will allow additional offers to install. Advanced settings will display all offers, enabling you to deselect all of them. It’s recommended to uncheck all offers, as legitimate programs generally do not use this installation method.

How to stop gwrldtpnws3.xyz notifications

Use WiperSoft anti-virus software to scan your computer for any adware infections. Dealing with adware manually can be complicated, so it’s best to rely on anti-virus programs. If nothing is found, the redirects you’re experiencing are likely caused by the websites you visit. To prevent this, install an adblocker program.
