Remove Globetower1.xyz ads
Globetower1.xyz is a scam website that wants to trick you into allowing ads on your desktop. It pushes a very typical scam, and you will see a browser alert saying “Globetower1.xyz wants to show notifications” when you get redirected to the site. If Globetower1.xyz was a legitimate site, the notifications would also be legitimate. However, since it’s a scam site, its notifications will be potentially dangerous ads.
Globetower1.xyz is a very obvious scam website. As soon as you are redirected to it, it will display the uTorrent logo and say that you need to click “Allow” to start a download. If you’re randomly redirected to this, it wouldn’t make much sense. However, if you were trying to download a torrent for something and ended up on Globetower1.xyz, it may not seem that weird. But the site is a scam so allowing it to show notifications means you would be spammed with ads that would appear on your desktop. It should be mentioned that those ads could expose you to dangerous content, such as scams and malware. The sooner you revoke the site’s permission to show notifications, the better.
But for legitimate sites, allowing notifications is perfectly safe. What you see in the notifications depends on what kind of content the site usually posts. As an example, if you allow a travel website to show notifications, you may see notifications with discounts or new travel destinations. And allowing a news website to show notfications means you would see important news alerts directly on your desktop. Clicking on the notification would take you directly to the content. When you no longer want to see the notifications, you can revoke the permission.
We highly recommend scanning your computer with WiperSoft or another anti-virus software to find out whether your computer is infected with adware and it’s causing you to get redirected. If it is adware, the anti-virus program would delete it, thus stopping the redirects. You should also install adblocker to prevent redirects in case they are caused by sites you visit.
What is causing the redirects?
There may be a couple of reasons why you are redirected to sites like Globetower1.xyz. Most commonly, it happens when users browse high-risk websites. For example, it’s not uncommon for pornography or pirating websites to trigger random redirects. To avoid this, install adblocker.
If you’re redirected even when on safe websites and it happens all the time, your computer may be infected with adware. It should be said that adware isn’t a dangerous infection, mainly because it focuses on exposing you to as much sponsored content as possible. In case you’re not aware, adware and similar infections install together with free software. This is called software bundling, and this method of installation essentially allows unwanted programs to sneak in unnoticed. The adware can come attached to free software as an extra offer, and while it’s an optional offer, it would be permitted to install alongside without requiring additional permission. To avoid installing unwanted offers, you need to pay close attention to how you install freeware. Most importantly, opt for Advanced (Custom) settings when given the option. Unlike Default, Advanced settings will make all added offers visible, and you will be able to deselect all of them. You only need to uncheck the boxes to prevent the offers from installing.
