While they have control over your device, they could attempt to steal personal files, and/or install malware. By the end of this supposed support session, you will be asked to pay several hundred dollars.

It’s important to note that legitimate virus warnings will never appear in your browser, and neither Apple nor Microsoft will show support phone numbers in these alerts. Any pop-up that provides a phone number is almost certainly a scam. Rely solely on your installed anti-virus software for accurate information regarding any malware infections on your computer.
