Remove AVP Antivirus
What is AVP Antivirus
AVP Antivirus is a rogue anti-virus program that pretends to be legitimate security software. These fake anti-virus programs aim to convince users to buy full versions, and they do that by displaying bogus scan results that show loads of issues and infections on the computer. If users want to solve the detected issues, they are asked to purchase the full versions. There are many fake anti-virus programs like AVP Antivirus, and they’re usually classified as potentially unwanted programs (PUPs). They’re relatively harmless programs and do not harm devices. Instead they aim to get money by scamming users.
If you have this program installed and it’s detecting issues on your device, ignore them. It’s highly likely that the detected issues either don’t exist at all or are very minor. Since it’s not a legitimate anti-virus program, delete AVP Antivirus.
In many cases, many users do not recall installing the programs. This is not unusual as PUPs use software bundling to install unnoticed. They come attached to free software as additional offers, and if users do not manually deselect them they can install alongside without requiring additional permission.
PUPs use software bundling to install
Software bundling is essentially adding additional offers to programs. Most free software will come with these additional offers, and they’re permitted to install alongside the freeware, unless you manually prevent them from doing so. When users install freeware, they usually pay little attention and are not aware of anything being added to the program. Since the additional offers are hidden from users initially, it’s not unusual that most users miss them.
If you want to avoid installing the additional offers, you need to start paying attention to how you install programs. At some point during installation, you will be requested to pick either Default or Advanced (Custom) settings. If you go with Default, added offers will remain hidden. However, if you opt for Advanced, they will be made visible and you will be able to deselect them. All you really need to do is uncheck the boxes of those offers. After you have done that, you can continue installing the program.
Should you remove AVP Antivirus?
As soon as the program installs, it will start showing you notifications about issues on your computer. AVP Antivirus will perform a scan and show results with tens or even hundreds of issues on your device. The issues can range from old registry entries to malware. However, take those scan results with a grain of salt. The program is trying to scare you into purchasing the full version, which is necessary to use the program’s cleaning features. If you were to take a closer look at those scan results, you’d realize that the detected issues either do not exist at all or are very minor.
You will be offered to purchase the program but we would recommend against that. Not only is the program is trying to trick you by showing you fake results, but using its cleaning feature can actually harm your computer. It could delete necessary files like registry entries, which could result in you needing to reinstall your Windows. Furthermore, since little is known about the program’s developers, by buying it you may be giving away your payment details to scammers.
AVP Antivirus removal
You should be able to uninstall AVP Antivirus manually fairly easily. If you are unsure about whether you can do it yourself, you should try using anti-spyware software. The program would take care of the issue without you needing to do anything.
